As usual the class starts at 9 am and we start a new day with eagerness. The days started with a lecture from Dr. Arry Retnowati from the Centre of Disaster Studies, Gadjah Mada University. Dr, Arry is gruesome about the economy and agriculture in Yogyakarta. For your information, the beach area in Yogyakarta is 113 km long and the Bantul area is 23 km long. She also giving a presentation about the coastal management in Parangtritis by using new approach to ecological system. They also enhanced their activities to tourism sector in that area.
After having the lecture we were divided into 5 small group and we were giving a task about the problem in coastal and river in our own country. Because of our group were from different country so we have discuss that we take Sweden as our site location. So our site is located on Ystad. Ystad is located in Southern Point of Sweden and one of the seaport. Agriculture is the main activities along the coastal area in the Ystad area. After having a discussion, our group present about the Ystad area in front of the class. Many things that we get from the brainstorm and we got to know each of the country coastal river main problem and what are the solution for each of the problem.
Finally the anticipated time, LUNCH HOUR guys…we having some rice with fried chicken, some vegetable, eggs and not to forget banana..so my friends and I were having a lunch together and talk abou the yesterday event.
Second session of the class again, we were having a lecture about post disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation by Dr. Herry Yogaswara and we introduced about the indigenous knowledge for disaster risk and education. He also mention about focus on how locality and normality but now everything has been mix. For your information there are 4 categories in Eco-DRR. Dr. Herry also mentioned about how bamboo can make a sound after being hit by lava and that idea has being used by the local community to be their alarming system.
After Dr. Herry session we having some discussion about tomorrow fieldtrip. Yeah it’s another fieldtrip. I love fieldtrip because I can learn many new things about Indonesia cultural. We also being divided into 7 small group for our activities in tomorrow fieldtrip and sunday. It’s so excited we having an amazing race in Jogja. Oh God I can wait what will happen that day. Many things I have learn in here and I always remember a quote from A.R Rahman- success comes to those who dedicated everything to their passion in life. To be successful, it is also very important to be humble and never let fame or money travel to your head.
